Personal opinion of a member of the History Club - It's time for anti-Confucianism. 3

"What did they do during the turbulent period of history?" [Oh My News 2003-06-17 12:42] ▲ Yurim's rally against the abolition of the Australian system held on May 23.   ⓒ2003 Oh My News Nam So-yeon One day, Toegye Lee Hwang stayed in a noble family because he needed a place to stay overnight while traveling in the provinces, and when he was surprised to find out that his favorite rich soybean paste was filled in the evening, his daughter-in-law lived in the house. Yi Hwang had a second daughter-in-law who became a heavenly wife at the age of 20, who quietly allowed her to dog despite the prohibition of widows. Lee Hwang emphasized strict Confucian ethics, but he did not forget that the province exists 'for people'. What on earth would Confucian scholars who claim to be guardians of traditional ethics say about Yi Hwang, a Confucian scholar? Whenever the abolition of the Australian system was mentioned, Confucian scholars have been fighting against the Australian system, saying, "The Australian system is an unwritten system that has been handed down since the time of appeal." "Protecting Australia is like protecting the enemy of the state," he argued. Yurim calls himself "10 million Yurim." It includes all the so-called people who hold ancestral rites, but few people readily agree with this. It is accurate to see people working at Sungkyunkwan in Myeongryun-dong, Seoul, 234 local Confucian schools nationwide, and 289 judo associations as Confucian scholars. Sungkyunkwan was the highest undergraduate school that passed on studying abroad from the late Goryeo Dynasty to the Joseon Dynasty, but now its characteristics are completely different. Legally, Sungkyunkwan (foundation corporation) is classified as a religious organization and is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Sungkyunkwan University is no longer an affiliated institution of Sungkyunkwan. There is a book called Cheonggeumrok in Sungkyunkwan. Cheonggeum refers to Confucian scholars, meaning "blue clothing sleeves," and the list of Confucian scholars and scholars of the Joseon Dynasty is recorded in Cheonggeumrok. Taking advantage of that tradition, Sungkyunkwan is currently writing a Cheonggeumrok, and it is true that the list of Confucian scholars is listed there today. According to Cheonggeumrok, the age group of Confucian scholars in Korea is usually in their 60s and 80s, mostly in their 60s are retirees. Jobs were usually teachers, soldiers, police, and public officials, and what was noteworthy was records of contributions. There were many former government officials, including leaders of the Saemaul Movement, members of the Right Living Purification Committee, chairman of the Anti-Communist Federation, and branch manager of the Korea Freedom Federation. There were many retirees from public officials and government agencies in the era of Yurim formation and women's Australia.    Jeong Ji-young (Seoul National University Institute of Humanities and Science) asks in her doctoral thesis <Australia Research in the Late Joseon Dynasty>, "Whose tradition is Yurim talking about?" Jeong, who studied the family register in the Danseong region of Gyeongsang-do in the 17th and 18th centuries, found that there were many women's Australia even in the late Joseon Dynasty when Jujaology was fully established. "At that time, Australia was only a documentary representative of the people who lived 'together' in one house. Therefore, women's Australia was also possible, and names such as grandfathers and slaves of their mother's family were also recorded. It was different from the Australian system, which recognized the authority and control of the patriarch as it is now." And although the number of women's Australia has decreased in the 18th century, this is only a change in aristocratic society, and there has been no significant change in Australia. What is noteworthy is that when the husband dies, women in the Ijo era were more guaranteed custody than now as they returned to their relatives to prepare for remarriage and lived with their ex-husband's child. / Looking at the history of Confucian scholars after the liberation of reporter Park Hyung-sook, there are many doubtful points whether they deserve to be called "traditional guardians." The history is recorded in detail in Sungkyunkwan's journal "Yurimwolbo" (after which it was changed to the Yurim Bulletin, Yurim Shinbo, and Confucian newspapers). The inaugural issue of April 30, 1969 featured Yoon Chi-young's inaugural congratulatory speech titled Contributing to the Modernization of Mental Enlightenment, who served in key positions during Rhee Syng-man and Park Chung-hee, and the front page of July 25 featured a statement justifying President Park Chung-hee's third-term constitutional amendment. On March 25, 1974, the spy group incident manipulated and announced by the Central Intelligence Agency in an article titled "North Korea's atrocities, burning justice and arms expansion are only war prevention" was written as it was, calling it a "command of the Kim Il-sung Dodang." On the other hand, on June 25, 1979, when he published a welcoming article on U.S. President Carter's visit to Korea, he said, "Let's greet the United States with courtesy." At the end of that year, on December 25, 1979, President Choi Kyu-han, who appeared in the December 12 incident, defended the military coup, calling it the "start of the crisis management government to overcome the national crisis." And on August 27, 1980, the following year, President Chun Doo-hwan wrote, "We stand in the name of 8 million Confucian scholars." In an article titled "With the full support of the whole nation, General Chun Doo-hwan was elected as the 11th president," he said, "We feel a sense of mission to exercise loyalty, contribute to purifying the national spirit, and cooperate with the right policies for the politicians." Yurim has shown loyalty to the regime regardless of its legitimacy. This turned out to be another aspect in 1986 and 1987, when the democratization movement was in full swing. The slogans Yurim shouted were not "overcoming military dictatorships" or "winning a straight line." On the front page of the "Yurim Bulletin" on December 25, 1986, articles of the "Family Law Absolute Master Pan-National Uprising" held in front of the National Assembly building were largely published. Instead of a desire for democratization, he said, "If the Australian system is abolished, there will be no leaders in promoting family prosperity and order, so it is clear that a country will be in jeopardy if a family is unstable," and added, "I will remind President Chun Doo-hwan." The rally held by Confucian scholars around the June 1987 uprising was unexpectedly a "resurrection of Chinese character education for Korean students." The Confucian Shinbo on July 1, 1987 dealt with the rally of Confucian scholars claiming the restoration of Chinese character education on the front page, saying, "The current education overlooks the historicality of Chinese character use." The ▲ Sungkyunkwan's bronchial <Yurimwolbo> reveals Yurim's pro-Japanese and anti-communist history.   The Confucian community seems to generally acknowledge the criticism that "What Sungkyunkwan did during the turbulent period of history" is "I have not done anything for society except for protests against the revision of the family law," or that "It is a shame not to put up a placard at Sungkyunkwan during the turbulent period of history." Jang Han-soo (70), co-chairman of Sungkyunkwan's Confucian ethics implementation, said, "There is room for reflection on the failure to actively participate in real society." However, external criticism is even harsher. Confucian scholar Seo Jeong-ki (Oriental Culture Research Institute) pointed out, "Now the Yurim world is dominated by descendants of Hwangdo Confucianism in Japan," adding, "We only emphasize reception and are not interested in the peaceful world of the country." "The real Yurim are the people who exercised against Japan. Japan was afraid of our Confucianism because it was the idea of sharing fate with the state. However, international students who studied Hwangdo Confucianism devoted to the emperor of Japan formed the Joseon Judo Association, advocated the right to promote Daedong-A and emphasized only the reception of Confucianism to neutralize the Yurim forces." Founded as the successor to Sungkyunkwan, which was closed by the Japanese in 1910, the academy did not teach morality, history, and politics. Only Japanese law was taught to prevent eye opening. Seo Jeong-ki explains that people from Gyeonghakwon are currently continuing the genealogy of Confucian scholars. After liberation, there was no political organization as large as Yurim. As soon as Kim Gu returned to Korea in 1945, he was appointed as the general manager of the Judo Association. However, for a while, the anti-Japanese forces took control of the judo association, and Shimsan Kim Chang-sook, who served as the first director of Sungkyunkwan and chairman of the judo association, was pushed out by pro-Japanese group, and Rhee Syng-man took control of Sungkyunkwan as the top adviser. Since then, Sungkyunkwan has organized the Judo Association's Government Presidential Election Promotion Committee to promote the re-election of Rhee Syng-man in cities, counties, and towns during the March 15 election. Shimsan, who resisted this, was humiliated by breaking his ribs while trying to stop Rhee Syngman from visiting Sungkyunkwan Shrine. This is well shown in <The Pharmacist of Suffering in Judohoe and Sungkyunkwan>. "If it is the name of Confucianism, the Australian system should be abolished," said Lee Sook-in of Sungkyunkwan University's Confucian Culture Research Institute. "If it is the name of Confucianism, the Australian system should be abolished," emphasizing, "Confucianism and Confucianism should be separated." This can be said to be a point that Confucianism is not properly continuing its fundamental ideas. "Confucianism is a realistic and reasonable idea. It is a discipline that has constantly reinterpreted reality. However, Yurim is currently unable to communicate with reality at all. The women's claim to abolish the Australian system is being sold as communism." A researcher majoring in Confucian philosophy says, "I'd rather ignore (Yurim)." "It's embarrassing to see Yurim on TV and discuss. How can it be discussed with people who say that the Australian system is disadvantageous to divorce women, "It's like a claim to equalize the entire people by making them sick__x." Toegye Lee Hwang, who interpreted and acted on human-based Confucianism. The very memorial tablet of Toegye is currently enshrined in the Daeseongjeon Hall of Sungkyunkwan and is revered by his juniors. Yurim hold a Gakyamuni ritual twice a year at Sungkyunkwan, and I wonder what Toegye will say after seeing the treatment of his juniors these days.
