This is why a high school student jumped into the independence movement. It was when General Lee Bum-seok entered the independence movement in the 3rd grade of Gobo, and when he was Deputy General Kim Jwa-jin at the Battle of Cheongsan-ri, he was 21 years old. Here's an excerpt from his autobiography of going to Manchuria to do the independence movement at a young age. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the end of the Joseon Dynasty, my Eom Chin was Jeong Sam-pum of the Ministry of Agriculture, Commerce and Industry inside the palace, and an official who is the chief secretary of the current administration department. It may have been because of the manager's job, but his personality was originally very strict, so he was a lonely boy who grew up without his mother knowing the warm taste of the family. I was the fourth reader of my house. However, I didn't mean that I was a single man without a daughter, but I was a single-reader with two older sisters... However, it could have been expressed well by the feeling of loving and loving me. There was a man, who was a bachelor named Jeong Tae-gyu, who was an old man, my friend, guardian, and teacher in my house. Tae-gyu's age was just twenty. I liked Tae-gyu as if I couldn't live in a world without Tae-gyu for a while. [Judging] My mother was not a member of Donghakdang, but she liberated her slaves before others because she was the owner of the enlightenment idea who sincerely sympathized with the Donghakdang burning Jongmunseo with her skills and liberating the slaves. However, Tae-gyu refused to liberate. "I have nowhere to go. Even if there is a place to go, you can't leave the young master behind." Tae-gyu's tone was firm. Eom was forced to ask Oh Cham-ryeong, the battalion commander of the defense force at the time, to make him a direct subordinate of Oh Cham-ryeong. Tae-gyu became a soldier in military uniform. After that day, I became a surprisingly different child. My school grades went up rapidly, and I was finally told that I was a model student, and when I graduated from ordinary school, I was selected as the best student in Gangwon-do and was allowed to enter Jeil High School, the predecessor of Gyeonggi High School. I saw my mother's satisfactory, so happy face for the first time. In commemoration of my admission to middle school, my mother bought me a 7-won Nickel assembly watch. When I became a middle school student, I often stayed up all night thinking about my country that was lost to others. It was always directly related to Jeong Tae-gyu's death. The story of my boyhood, who clearly saw Jeong Tae-gyu's warrior with my own eyes, was engraved like an imprint in my brain. It was when I was 11 years old that my country went bankrupt. And, Jeong Tae-gyu's death was in autumn when I was eight years old, and it happened shortly after my mother came to my house. At that time, Korea was not completely merged, but in fact, Korea was already a subordinate country to Japan. In preparation for the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1905, they first decided to disarm our defense forces and forcibly disarmed more than 15,000 troops. On the day when only 3,000 people were officially dissolved with the approval of Emperor Yong-hee, battalion commander Park Sung-hwan of the protesters committed suicide, saying that he felt responsible for failing to stop the collapse of the humiliating country. Resented by the death of the battalion commander, soldiers smashed weapons, shared ammunition, and killed a Japanese captain. Thus, our Seosomunan Army stubbornly refused to be disarmed and engaged in a city war against the whole army. Motivated by the incident, the disbanded soldiers raised righteous army from all over the country. However, our military was rusty with old-fashioned weapons and had no commander. In the end, although loyalty was strong, there were no skills, and in addition, there were a number of wicked traitors. When a righteous army was caught, he was taken to death by drilling his palm and tying it with wire. Jeong Tae-gyu, the subordinate of Oh Cham-ryeong, was seriously injured in the battle on August 1, 1907, when he was disarmed after being exclusively assigned to the Park Sung-hwan battalion, and came all the way to my house. I cried so much that I was tied to Jeong Tae-gyu's body. I wouldn't have left his dead body unless people had forcibly stopped him. Jeong Tae-gyu was killed by a Japanese servant. Why did you steal Jeong Tae-gyu from me and even the country? When my perception gradually emerged in middle school, I used to find myself in the thought of Jeong Tae-gyu, who gave me such a reward of my life, far away from my boyhood. I became a young man who stayed up all night thinking about what path I should take. During the summer vacation of the third grade of Gyeonggi (Jeil High School), I went to swim toward Mapo, Hangang River, and I happened to have a Haehoo with a person who would bring about a change in my history. He was Yeo Woon-hyung's last name. Either way, if I write down what happened at that time in detail, there is no limit. Now I have to hurry up and tell my mother's story. After a short summer vacation, when Yeo Woon-hyung crossed the Yalu River again and headed to the continent, I stayed up with my eyes open for several nights. Then I finally made up my mind. I decided to abandon my studies and jump into the independence movement, so I finally came out. The destination is far and far away. I left my country in that vast heaven and earth, making Yeo Woon-hyung's name the only guide. Fatherland, stay well until the day of liberation.
