effeminate or Advanced Bureaucratic States - Joseon

The royal government of Joseon was organized from the beginning to carry out politics through a unified bureaucracy. Joseon also had an eunuch system, but the number of eunuchs was extremely limited and political power was systematically blocked. From the beginning of the dynasty, the Yushin tried to eliminate the influence of eunuchs on the royal government. Therefore, they institutionalized the king to hold a lecture contest with his learned and virtuous servants every day, and as a result, the opportunity to contact the eunuch was minimized. In addition, since the early Joseon Dynasty, Jongsil, except for his maternal relatives and Wangtong, has been severely checked. Therefore, the direct influence of the nobleman bureaucrats on the king was inevitably increased. The characteristic of the Joseon bureaucracy is that it focuses on preventing corruption in bureaucratic society by balancing checks and balances among bureaucrats. They put great importance on the media so that language officials have the right to impeach high-ranking officials and have an independent personnel system so that high-ranking and lower-ranking officials can balance. Because of this, despite the relatively weak kingship and strong theocracy, a relatively stable political system was maintained. After the founding of the Joseon Dynasty, small and medium-sized landowners grew and their intellectual characterization took place in Hyangchon. They formed a local village in the local village society and operated the local villages autonomously. By the time they appear as political actors, they form forces in the central political world through academic ties. This political force, commonly referred to as Sarim, was the landowner of a rural village, and Joseon took on the character of a military retainer through a combination of the central bureaucracy and local autonomy. Neo-Confucianism had great influence in systematizing this. Since China, Neo-Confucianism has suggested a system in which bureaucracy and imperial power are exercised on the basis of the primary recognition of the role of rural landlords. In addition, Neo-Confucianism in Joseon retained a novel spirit as a relatively new idea, so it could be an ideology of movements aimed at ideal politics such as Taoist politics after the 16th century. These points are the main factors that bureaucrats from the aristocracy were able to lead politics in Joseon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From the perspective of colonial and self-disciplined historians... ...it is often described as a weak country that has been shouted out for Joseon...
